Innovation: SET: A wind turbine for every private house, no noise, less maintenance and durable.

Wind energy is important for every one. Normal wind turbines are not suitable for the urban area. SET brings the nice, beautiful turbines to the people at home. The Turbines works, when other don’t, with gentle summer breeze and in a violent winter storm. It works, when other are in deep frost. WS-turbine produces electricity at least 50% more in a year than traditional propeller models. All the year round. Many things make it extraordinary. And therefore it gives the best value for the money. WS-turbine doesn’t keep noise. Doesn’t kill birds. Soundless and safe Turbines, ideal for a population centre and even a child can stop it. Besides it’s beautiful.
WS-turbines produces electricity year after year, long after others have been wrecked. Needs of maintenance is minimum. It is investment for tens of years. Do not wonder if it works in year 2100. The special WS vane construction makes the turbine able to utilize winds of 1-3 m/s, which is insufficient speed to others, The WS-turbine works also in storms, tested in 60 m/s, which is unbearable speed to others. Both these WS-facts are World Records. WS-turbines are ideal fur the urban area, real green energy for every house. Independent from the electricy company. It will keep energy costs constant and low.

The Silver EEP-Award 2005

Company: Hera Holding, Spain
Innovation: Containerised plant for biogas enrichment to be used as bio fuel for cars.

Transport is nowadays one of the biggest atmosphere pollutants. Thus the use of alternative fuels in vehicles constitutes an important way to reduce this effect.
The innovation presents a transportable and compact containerised machine of easy installation which enriches biogas from any source converting it to an alternative renewable biofuel which can be used as a substitute of conventional fossil fuels.
The already existing machine has been tested upgrading the most difficult kind of biogas, the landfill biogas. Special filters and mechanisms have been developed and implemented in the machine in order to achieve a quality of gas similar to natural gas with a methan content higher than 90%.
Once the biogas is upgraded, an independent compression station with storage tanks has been installed to fuel the cars quickly.
The plant has a capacity to treat 200 Nm3/h of raw biogas obtaining enough upgraded biogas to fuel more than 80 vehicles/day with a range of 300Km/car which results 24.000 Km/day.

The Bronze EEP-Award 2005

Innovation: In vivo Human Cellular BioAlert; in order to study the effects of human health of real situations of environmental expositions or commercialised products.

Today’s diseases (cancer, reproductions perturbation…) are growing. Pollution is believed to count for more cases than many believed until now. Environment and commercialised products need to be more monitored. Since 2004 VigiCell provides a new experimental approach: an in vivo Human Cellular BioAlert, in order to study the effects on human health of real situations of environmental expositions or commercialised products.
This experimental approach is not based on a particular technology. Rather for each situation VigiCell designs and selects appropriate scientific strategies based on the selection of cellular biomarkers and customised protocols.
