The Jury of he EEP Award 2006 awarded the following companies:
The Gold EEP Award 2006
Company: Technologie Ekologiczne, Poland
Innovation: T-Technolgy®: Recycling Technology with the use of the method of catalytic processing of plastics waste into liquid fuels component.
T-Technology is a fully economical and ecological recycling technology that converts plastic waste– by employing the method of catalytic processing – into a high-quality component of liquid fuels or, optionally, into an oil fraction of this component. Apart from recovery of polyethylene (PE) and polypropylene (PP) waste, this technology enables the recovery of special-purpose plastic waste.
Thanks to the solutions applied, the presented processing line is able to accept up to 25% of plastic waste additions (apart from PE and PP) in the total mass of the charge. The solution consists of a patented reactor along with a complete processing line for production of the liquid fuel component. An additional advantage of this technology is successful completion of the research work and prototype tests concerning utilization of the additional system modifying physical and chemical properties of the final product for the needs of the installation. The additional cooling system (offered to the Customers as a purchase option) was designed and implemented for the purpose of obtaining one fraction of the inal product – the oil fraction. Two modules of the installation allow processing from 360 to 450 tons of plastic waste a month.

The Silver EEP Award 2006
Company: Henkel/Solar Integrated Technologies, Germany
Innovation: Innovative Adhesive System in Flexible Single-ply Roofing Photovoltaic Panel System.
Solar roof of the roll
Henkel and Solar Integrated developed a new generation of solar roofs.
This new technology combines lightweight, unbreakable, flexible solar membranes, based on amorphous silicon, with polymer roofing membrane.
The successful launch is due to the symbiosis of the SI solar roof technology and a high-tech custom-made adhesive system from Henkel with the brands Macromelt® and Purmelt®.
This innovative adhesive system from Henkel satisfies the superior demands of the solar roof:
• Secure bonding
• Weather-resistance
• Durable temperature-resistance
• High UV-stability
• Aging-resistance
• Low weight
• High Flexibility
Unlike heavy weight, conventional rigid photovoltaic systems, Solar Integrated solar roof is applicable for light industrial flat roofs.

The Bronze EEP Award 2006
Company: Paques, the Netherlands
Innovation: Anammox® process for cost effective and sustainable nitrogen removal.
The Anammox® conversion is an elegant short cut in the natural nitrogen cycle. The Anammox bacteria combine one unit of nitrite with one unit of ammonium to give dinitrogen gas. By shortcutting the nitrogen cycle, the power consumption is reduced and the use of an electron donor like eg. Methanol is avoided. This results in a more cost effective and sustainable process for nitrogen removal. In order to produce nitrite, half of the ammonium has to be partially oxidized into nitrite by a partial nitrification process.
The Anammox® process is based on energy conservation from anoxic ammonium oxidation with nitrite as the electron acceptor:
The process is carried out by a group of planctomycete bacteria of which Candidatus “Brocadia Anammoxidans” was the first to be identified.
